Many people long for a loft, some for the light and others for the romance of the beams. Luca Varga, architect at Interiorlines, helped his clients to recreate the otherwise complex attic as an airy living space.
The interior two-storey apartment with high ceilings in District III had as much potential as it had challenges. The loft property with its complex geometry had been sitting empty and abandoned for several years when architect Luca Varga started planning the technical conversion. To solve the complex design challenge, Luca proposed innovative interior design solutions. The common functions, the kitchen-dining room and the living room are located on the lower, entrance level of the apartment. Taking advantage of the geometry of the attic, Luca created spacious, bright spaces by connecting the upper level bedroom with an elegant, staggered glass wall that connects it to the living room, the focal point of the apartment.
The upstairs lives closely with the downstairs spaces. The apartment, although a contemporary space equipped with modern technology, has been transformed into a real home thanks to the classic, renovated wooden structure and traditional design elements. For example, several areas feature traditional kilim rugs, chosen by the designer to match the tiling or the colour of the walls.
